BUA Sugar Refinery
At the request of a client in Lagos, Nigeria, Sugar K Ltd with the assistance of a partner in Brazil, organised a full team of very experienced sugar engineers (civil, mechanical, chemical, structural, electrical, energy, automation) and designers in order to carry on a sugar refinery project.
- The team completely planned , designed and developed this green field sugar refinery project with an initial daily capacity of 2,000 MT of white sugar (about 700,000 MT of white sugar output yearly) which now operates successfully in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria (BUA Sugar Refinery)
- Sugar K Ltd and its Brazilian partner were involved in the project from the start to its completion, aside from the civil engineering works in Nigeria which were done locally under the plans and designs prepared by our team of engineers
- Some unique engineering solutions were created specifically for this relatively small and crowded site in Tincan Island port: in particular Sugar K Ltd, after an intensive worldwide research, made excellent use of specially adapted dome silos previously used in the USA for cement, nuts and other products with tailor made extracting equipment inside the dome; this generated great savings of the scarce land area as opposed to conventional A-frame warehouses
- Through research conducted by its engineers, Sugar K Ltd also used a ground breaking type of sugar filters that had been previously used in Brazil for paper and pulp products, but never until that time in sugar production (at a major cost reduction in comparison with the traditional sort of bed and pressure filters present in the sugar refining process).
- Through this project, Sugar K Ltd greatly expanded its network to first class engineering firms, suppliers and manufacturers of sugar processing equipment, and all other related equipment used in a sugar refinery or sugar factory.
